Alexandra Zerner is a progressive rock guitar player, multi-instrumentalist, and composer from Brno, Czech Republic.
Her solo works include the albums "9 Stories" (2014), "Aspects" (2015), "An Evening Walk" EP (2016), "Opus 1880" (2018), “Silhouette” (2021), "Do'nt Give Up!" (2022), and the singles "Healing" (2009), "Nebula" (2010), "Butterfly (Fly to Heaven)" (2014), "Pawprints (In Loving Memory of Orlin)" (2018), "Kartinche" (2019), “Elusive as the Night” (2020), and "Silent Night" (2020).
Alexandra participated as a guest musician in "Thoughtscanning" (2014) by We All Die (Laughing), "The Path To Atlas" (2015) by Aurora Borealis, "The Four Seasons" (2016) by Vivaldi Metal Project, "Follow Me" (2019) by Sevi, “Odd Times” by Alberto Rigoni (guitars, keyboards), and “Tomorrow” (2020) by Svetlana Bliznakova - Sevi.
She performed as a support act for Stu Hamm and Greg Howe (November 2016), and Dream Theater (July 2019).

“Persephone” is one of my favourite acoustic pieces by @opeth so I got inspired to make a guitar cover of it. Of course, I wanted to stay true to the original so I added the keys and the voiceover as well. For the keyboards, I used my Komplete Kontrol S88 MK2 with the built-in Electric piano and Mellotron in Logic Pro X. The acoustic guitar is my 8-string nylon string from Ortega Guitars record...

You're welcome! The tuning is F#BEADGBE like standard 8-string electric guitars. Sometimes I might drop the 8th string to E for a particular piece.

Thank you vey much! I started in 1988 with classical guitar and switched to electric in 1992. I had many teachers and I tried to take the best of them all. I think having a good teacher is very important and saves a lot of time and frustration, especially nowadays with all those tutorials and courses everywhere. All of my guitar students came to me after getting stuck in the "tutorial hell" and ended up on the verge of giving up. Thank you! It's tuned to A = 426,7 Hz which is about 53 cents below 440 Hz. That's the tuning I used for the entire album.

How is this a sitar at all? A weak mimic at best.
From this perspective, we shouldn't call the electric guitar a guitar, because it's a weak mimic of the classical guitar ;)
@@AlexandraZernerRocks Can you bend a note up a fifth or more on this instrument? Do you use Sitar plectrum? Do you use Sitar techniques and microtonality? Is it built like a Sitar? No. Not at all. So how is this a sitar? An interesting instrument yes, but it has nothing to do with a sitar. Would you play an electric banjo and call it a bouzouki? Would you play clarinet in 12 tet Hirwaz mode and call it a duduk? I invent instruments myself, so I am all for pushing boundaries and getting new sounds etc... but to claim heritage from an unrelated instrument is disingenuous at best, and misleads those without experience in Indian music. Cool instrument, inaccurate name from whoever it was that made it.

Cool! If you change the bridge to a regular danelectro would that make a regular guitar? I was thinking doing that on the six string version you showed.
The buzz bridge is what makes the sitar-like sound. If you remove it and mute the resonating strings, it will be just a regular guitar.

LaBella sells single strings in the 75 to 85 gauge range. I had bought them for the two low strings of an Ibanez 8 string I got a few years ago. I had these tuned to G1 and B1. The scale length was only 25 1/2" on that guitar. The Ortega has a 27 1/8" I think.
The Ortega has quite a long scale - 690 mm, which is 27,17". It handles well dropping 8th string down to E if needed. I use the Ortega set available on Thomann, which is essentially Savarez but a custom set sold under the brand Ortega.
